Who we are - Youth for Change International (YFCI) is a youth-led organization, campaign and online community that gets youth involved in making a difference and spreads the word about global issues. We are a united group of youth from around the world demanding that youth are given opportunities to express ourselves. We believe youth should be given a voice, and we have many programs that give youth opportunities to speak their opinions. We currently have over 550 members from over 85 countries from around the globe.
What we do - Our mission is to inspire today's youth to take action for what they believe in, and empower them to take a stand on issues. YFCI has numberous on-and-offline projects that can get you to take action, which includes an online magazine, grassroots fundraising projects for charities, and publications. YFCI also has an ambassador program, which gives them the opportunity to connect with other youth from around the world, and get them to talk about their countries. We connect youth to world issues by getting youth to talk about the things that matter to them. Click here to learn more about our projects.
Organization Status - Currently, we are not a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. We are a group of youth from around the world that wish to make the earth a better place to live, by debating the issues, and taking action in our communities. Donations are not tax-deductable, but any donation is greatly appreciated. [$]
How we came to be - With inspiration, commitment and interest from youth from the UNICEF Voices of Youth forums, Zach Komes from the United States founded the international organization, with help from our current staff. Our progress was slow, but eventually we topped 100 members in only 4 short months. After we celebrated our first year since founding, our members decided that we should not only become an organization, but also become a movement for change as well.
The entire YFCI group launched a campaign and have launched many projects to get youth interested in world issues, and inspire them to take action in their own communities, regardless of race, gender, religion, economic status, sexual orientation, opinion theology or culture.
Progress - [By the Numbers] Since founding, YFCI has created very strong relationships with several partners, including the United Youth Committee of the World, A Better Community for All, and Aspire2Inspire, among many others. The website gets 1,500 monthly hits, and many new members join each day. Our projects have expanded and been created with the dedication of our 13 staff members. Our discussion forum community has shown progress as well, with over 7,800 posts so far, 510 topics and hundreds of contributors.
Reorganization - In December 2009, Victoria Maraví and Kwa Gaston became Co-Directors of the Youth for Change International organization. They, with the help of over a dozen new staff members, will bring new commitment and ideas to help make our organization better.
Future - Does the future look bright for YFCI? It's up to you. Join the Movement and make a change.
